On Monday October 4, 2021 the Windsor Essex County Health Unit has pulled back on the restrictions to prohibit bars and restaurants from operating after midnight and capping gatherings associated with weddings and funerals to 100.
Previous Letter of Instruction
On the heels of last week’s announcement from the province that will require people to be fully vaccinated and provide proof of their vaccination status to enter certain businesses including casinos, the Windsor Essex County Health Unit’s Medical Officer of Health has announced additional instructions to control the spread of COVID-19 in our community under Ontario Regulations 364/20, Rules for Areas at Step 3 for businesses. While we understand the decision to take these steps to mitigate the spread of the Delta variant, we expect these two new restrictions will have a negative financial impact on our business. Currently, there is approximately 25% of unvaccinated people in our region who would be unable to visit the property. With that said, these new restrictions, in addition to the current restrictions that are already in place, provide additional challenges that will need to be a part of our consideration as we look forward to opening up additional parts of our business.
Specifically, as of Tuesday September 7 at 12:01 a.m. all Windsor-Essex residents or persons responsible for a business will be required to adopt additional requirements above and beyond the provincial regulations until September 20 at 12:01 a.m.
In addition to the Health & Safety protocols we are currently following, these instructions come with further requirements including the following changes for our property:
- Restaurants and Bars must limit hours of operation to 12:00 a.m. (Midnight)
- Ensure all employees in Restaurants and Bars wear both mask and eye protection at all times when physical distancing cannot be maintained or when a barrier is not in place
As the situation with COVID-19 continues to unfold, we know it remains imperative for us to be diligent in our COVID-19 health and safety protocols.
An increase in local confirmed cases is a reminder that we cannot become complacent with our protocols and guidelines during this pandemic and need to continue to be rigorous with our procedures. We also encourage you to get vaccinated if you haven’t already done so.
